Repainting Oar Blades

Watercolours are beautifully used to show the architecture of the area while still being able to create
sharped forms for bodies such as that of the girl and the boat.

This picture was created with one of Sir William Russell Flints (as with many of his watercolours) thoughts in mind.
"See distinctly, compose devoutly, ponder deeply"

That said this piece was published as an unsigned, unlimited calendar print, for decorative purposes only.

But it is still a beautiful picture, and is reminiscent of the signed limited edition titled 'A Question of Colour'
The girl in the painting is of course Cecilia Green.

Cecilia modelled in several piece for Sir William Russell Flint over the course of almost a decade in each others company.
Please press here further information relating to work focused more on Cecilia as well as more about her.
Unfortunately due to the fact that the inks used in the printing were not lightfast, most of these calendar prints have now faded.
