In 1910 Russell Flint was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
Although well known for his work in watercolour, this painting shows his skill in mastering oil painting.
The original work was 40" x 50"
Exhibited in The Royal Academy 1927
These dimensions for the original were much larger than his usual work, when first exhibited there had been much interest in the piece which ended up selling for the price of a motor car. It was then lent to the Sydney Art Gallery in Australia for viewing.
