This chalk study entitled Josefina depicts a subject looking into a book wearing an iconic frock style that can be found in many of Sir William Russell Flints work.

The contrast between the heavy line work on the base against the few delicately brought up as the painting rises helps create an air of light.
Although watercolour was his mastered skill he was very able to adapt to different materials.
