Having studied, and taught art in his earlier years,

and was appointed vice-president of The Royal Watercolour Society,
Later in life he settled in Spain, painting many of the Spanish rural scenes for which he became so well known.
The above oil painting is typical of Francis Murray's work, although he would usually paint in watercolour.
