As with 'In my studio' this was not only painted in his Peel Street Studio but is a good representation of part of the vast upstairs room in which he produced so many masterpieces.
Consuelito Carmona was the model, resting from one of her sessions in setting the Spanish atmosphere by swirling around the studio,
the clap of her castanets, and the drumming of her heels drowning the music of his old gramaphone.
